Banbury Amateur Radio Society exists to foster interest in Amateur Radio and provide opportunities for anyone interested in the hobby to develop their interest further. More information about its aims can be found by clicking the 'Constitution' Link on the left.
BARS is a small but well-established society which draws its members from Banbury and the surrounding area. The membership is currently in the thirties.
BARS actively encourages members to participate and can draw upon a wide range of experienced amateurs to assist in almost every aspect of the hobby.
The club runs classes for the Radio Amateurs Examination to help new members get licenced and on the air.
So if you live in, or near to North Oxfordshire and would like to "have a look at" amateur radio, then feel free to pop along on a Wednesday night and say hello. You can find details about forthcoming meetings by clicking the 'Events Programme' link on the left.
If you hear us on the air using the Society's callsign G0BRA (on 144.515 MHz), give us a call!

Up-to-the-minute News:
| Summer Barbeque - Bank Holiday Monday, 2 p.m. until late
BARS' Summer Barbeque is on Bank Holiday Monday and we're looking forward to meeting members present and past at Frank's QTH - 169 Bloxham Road, Banbury. Peter Moore, ZL2AUB, a BARS Member until he left for the sunnier climes of New Zealand, will be with us from 3.30 approximately, and this event is very much a reunion for Peter as well as a social event, and Peter is looking forward to meeting old friends. Members who haven't already let Frank know that they'll be coming should email Frank soonest so that he can be sure to have enough food and drink to go round, and Frank asks for £3.50 from everyone who comes to cover the cost - you can give that to him on Monday - but do please let him know that you are coming by emailing frh@btconnect.com soonest. Peter will be our Guest Speaker at our next Wednesday's Club Meeting and will outline his experiences of amateur radio in New Zealand: September 1st, 169 Bloxham Road, 7 p.m. for 7.30. We're looking forward to seeing you on Monday afternoon and Frank is standing by for your email now. |
